Artist Talk: Sarah Kate Beaumont

  • Make + Matter 3711 Butler Street Pittsburgh, PA, 15201 United States (map)

What goes behind the creation of art? Artist Sarah Kate Beaumont will share her work, her process, and her vision for art making while thinking about sustainability and our impact to the world - in this personal and inspiring artist talk.

Sarah Kate Beaumont is an interdisciplinary artist whose internationally recognized, decade-long project, Slow Style, was featured in The New York Times and profiled in Overdressed: The Shockingly High Cost of Cheap Fashion by Elizabeth Cline. For the duration of this project, begun in 2008, the artist opted out of buying clothing. Instead, she designed and made everything she wore and taught sewing in her art studio. Slow Style is a dynamic exploration of sustainability and stewardship within our shared ecosystem.
